Clubsport Indoor Cricket League 2019
It’s back and this might be the final year of the Indoor 6s League in it’s current format.
For those who don’t know, the Indoor 6s is a 6 a side Softball Game played at a very fast pace. It’s pretty competitive and is ideal to keep you ticking over during the winter in all aspects, Batting, Bowling, Fielding.
Games are held at Mayfield Sports Centre Full Fixture List with Dates attached. Each Wednesday the Session Lasts from 8pm to 10pm with 4 Teams each week. The Hall is divided into 2 with 2 Games running so all 4 Teams in action. Each Team gets 2 Games per Night with a Cost of £5 per person.
Last year we played a very young team with Jamal, Haydn and Matthew Lowden playing every week. I’d like Ryan and Noah to both start playing quite regularly if they are keen and for Andrew Lowden to get started too. Alongside our 2 Senior Caley Squad Members Majid and Sami. Also maybe Niall and I can show the younger lads a thing or 2 about batting too!
As I said it is quite competitive and fast paced but with the Soft Ball it’s a good intro to Senior Cricket. Coaching wise its good for the younger lads to play with older ones and pick up some tips and improve their confidence etc. The current squad members are detailed below but if anyone else is keen let Darren know.
The fixtures, and results, are available via the Fixtures Tab in the website.
DHSFPCC Indoor Sixes Squad
Darren Milne (Captain)
With most of the Juniors away of various school trips, Angus, HTC and Jamal were joined by the enforcers, Majid, Shogun and Glyn for the games against Forfarshire and Q6.
Some outstanding bowling, backed up by the fielding crew who were pouching the catches saw Forfarshire struggle to post a challenging total, finishing their innings on 52. Majid and Jamal batted well together to put the team on a sound footing score wise. HTC and Glyn the came in to ensure the scores were level before Shogun and Angus came in to get us over the line with some fine defensive batting which was required because of Angus's injury concerns.
In the second game Q6 set posted a good score of 116 which the boys struggled to chase down. Unfortunately the opening [air (Majid and Jamal) managed to post a negative total for the first time this season. HTC and Glyn managed to move the score into positive territory after 8 overs before Jonny and HTC finished it off which saw the boys finish on 38.
Highlight of the night came when Angus tried (unsuccessfully mind) to run through a door completing a sharp single against Forfarshire. The commotion was such that everybody in Mayfield on the night came to the games hall to see what was going on!!!!
Hopefully it turns out to be no more than a bruised ego and some other minor bruises!!
Mathematically still possible for DHSFP to qualify for Finals Day but we need to win our last four games and hope other results go in our favour!!!
