The 2nd XI traveled to Charlestown (just south of Dunfermline) to play Broomhall. Broomhall is a recent addition to the SPCU and they have been flying in SPCU Breedon Division 2 since joining.
Broomhall won the toss and decided to bat in hot sunny conditions on their astroturf wicket. They had an excellent batting lineup and immediately started scoring runs freely. DHSFPCC stuck to the task and took wickets at regular intervals but Broomhall's strength throughout the batting lineup meant they ended up scoring 263 for 7 from their 40 overs. Wickets from Shaun Crosby ( 3), Lewis Smith (2), Duminda Ekanayke (1), and Angus Ledlie (1).
Unfortunately, Broomhall's bowling was just as good as their batting and DHSFPCC struggled under an early barrage from their two opening quicks. Lewis Smith (15) and Bob Hopkins (12) managed to slow the fall of wickets in the middle order before they too succumbed to the relentless, on-point, bowling. It was left to Captain Andrew Lindsay to get 1 batting point for DHSFPCC with an excellent 17 not-out at the end.
